Bureau of Labor Statistics July Employment Report
July 2015 Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) employment report states that employment rose by 215,000 jobs in the private, non-farm sector. Job gains occurred in the retail, health care, professional and technical, and financial activities trades. Both the unemployment rate and number of unemployed persons remained unchanged from June at 5.3% and 8.3 million, respectively.
BLS also reports that the July average hourly earnings for private, non-farm payrolls rose by 5 cents to make $24.99/hour. Year-over-year, the average hourly earnings have increased by 2.1% from 2014-2015.
